As soon as you step into the Trico Changemakers Studio, you are in a shared space, where student changemakers and social purpose community organizations work alongside - and with - one another, building on an already vibrant community of changemakers in Calgary.

These organizations span the spectrum of nonprofits focused on prosperity to commercial businesses focused on social good; the common thread is that they are making a positive impact.

The Studio is actively engaged in social R&D* through social innovation labs focused on:

  • Dementia
  • Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)
  • Seniors Housing
  • Healthy Eating Environments in Recreation Settings

*Social R&D is comprised of “complementary and reinforcing activities that unleash continuous process, product, policy, service, structural, and systems innovation across society” (http://www.sigeneration.ca/social-rd/). These activities may include ethnography, leveraging small, big and open data, prototyping, aggregating and sharing lessons from successes and failures.
